This message will be short/sweet (maybe not to all) / and to the point. Everyone chooses where they live. My husband and I chose to live in Silverton initially due to our businesses. Then we became Silvertonians, and proud of this small, quaint town even with its quirkiness.
I know for some of you it has been a while since you have been to an Oktoberfest Kick-Off Party; you who are new to town may never have joined us. This is the year to come out and see our new community building and have lots of Oktoberfest fun. Put all your worries aside and join us for the best party in the Mid-Valley. It all begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10.
So here it comes! For as long as I have known a few of the unpleasant players in this civic horror story they have found ways to create doubt and distrust of anyone in public focus, calling almost everyone a crook on the take. Well, honestly, how much “Take” can there be really from SACA, Silverton Together or being a city councilor?
Flatterers will tell you exactly what you want to hear in order to advance a specific agenda and false prophets will lead you astray based on half-truths and innuendo disguised as “facts.”
I am personally disappointed at the shameful level of discourse that continues to take place regarding “concepts” to enhance downtown Silverton. Representations both verbal and in print continue to contain gross distortions of truth, hyperbole and inaccuracies.
Mt. Angel still has a lot of healing to do. These last few years have really hurt our community.
