Seniors open shop, start singles group

Silverton Senior Center has started a new enterprise, a thrift store at 207 Jersey St., Silverton, across from the Oak-fired Pizza cart. The opening will be held during First Friday, July 5. Diverse visions: Senior Center art show

“There are paintings in every room – even the bathrooms,” Sandy Tiffee exhaled after hanging the last of 50 artworks throughout Silverton Senior Center. A visitor, perusing the exhibit, “Faces of Culture,” remarked, “It feels kind of like being at the United Nations.”

Letter to the editor: We did it – together!

Back in September 2008 a few people said it could not be done. They said Silverton Senior Center could not raise $100,000 to match a Ford Family Foundation challenge grant. Well, look at us now. Not only did we match it, we went far beyond that amount.
