The Garden says that the July 3 Silverton Day concert and fireworks is definitely still on, and other event dates are pending. The Nickel’s Glen Damewood is looking at artists and a couple of possible venues in the Salem/Keizer area for his series. The Man says, Come on people now, smile on your brother, everybody get together and love one another right now………

The long-awaited Silverton Skate Park recently took a major step forward with the commitment of land by the city. Fall Line Sports’ Jason Franz reports that now that the park has a home, fundraising can get started in earnest, including a March 16 event at the Wooden Nickel. The site will share space with the planned Senior Center, located next to Robert Frost School. The Man applauds this effort and hopes there will not be conflicts when the roving gangs of skateboard grannies have a turf war over the park with the kids. At least it is in close proximity to the hospital…

How I see it: Please, don’t make excuses for bad behavior

Red or blue, conservative or liberal, passionate or stoic, rural or urban. He is a good person who represented his House district and […]

As reported in my esteemed column last month, Mario Montiel opened his new Edward Jones office in Silverton. Of course, life moves pretty fast and Mario got an unexpected opportunity to take over an established office in Keizer, an offer he couldn’t refuse.
