Garden concerts Summer series announced

A varied selection is planned for the 10th annual summer concert series at The Oregon Garden. Tickets go on sale May 20 for garden members, May 27 for the general public.

Concerts run July 3 to Aug. 11 in the Teufel Amphitheater. Concert-goers may bring blankets or sand chairs; refreshments will be available from vendors. Shows begin at 7 p.m., however, ticket holders may enter The Oregon Garden at 4 p.m. and the concert area at 5 p.m. Concert admission is $10  for Silverton residents and members of The Oregon Garden and $15 for others. Children under 7 are free.

Friday, July 3 – Nashville recording artist Amy Clawson begins the series with country music. Free admission to the garden is available all day for Silverton residents and there’s a fireworks display at 10 p.m.

Thursday, July 9 – Three Dog Night performs Top 40 hits.

Wednesday, July 22 –  Sam Bush blends bluegrass,  rock, jazz and  reggae. Opening act, the Grascals, was Bluegrass Music Association’s Entertainers of the Year in 2007.

Thursday, July 30 – Crystal Gayle and Juice Newton perform pop and country.

Thursday, Aug. 6 – Swinging with Benny Goodman, a group composed of Jazz vocalist Terry Blaine, jazz pianist Mark Shane and clarinetist Allan Vache celebrate Benny Goodman’s 100th birthday with the bandmaster’s hits.

Tuesday, Aug. 11 – Sawyer Brown brings his Top Ten hits to the stage.
