The Forum: Kick-off time for O’fest

I know for some of you it has been a while since you have been to an Oktoberfest Kick-Off Party; you who are new to town may never have joined us. This is the year to come out and see our new community building and have lots of Oktoberfest fun. Put all your worries aside and join us for the best party in the Mid-Valley. It all begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10.

The Gervais Knights of Columbus half Bar-B-Que Chicken dinner with all the fixings is $35. This is enough food to fill the heartiest of appetites and there may even be some leftovers for a Sunday snack. Beer, wine and soft drinks are included in the price of the ticket.

Featured beers include Spaten Lager and Spaten Optimator from Munich. Also on tap are Beck’s German Premium Pilsner, Widmer Okto, the ever popular Bud Light, plus a fine selection of wines from Eola Hills Vineyards and soft drinks. Everyone will receive a souvenir quality Spaten 1/2 liter beer mug for free.
Dance to the music of the S-Bahn, a German festival band from Canada. S-Bahn plays a wide array of music designed to keep you taping your toes and dancing the night away. They were a huge hit at last year’s Kick-off and are back by popular demand.

Tickets are on sale at Roth’s Fresh Markets throughout the Mid-Willamette Valley, at the Mount Angel Branch of West Coast Bank, Mount Angel 76 Station, Tiny’s Tavern, Jamie’s Barber Shop, Mount Angel Sausage Company and Bochsler’s Hardware. Make sure you get your ticket before we sell out.

We look forward to greeting you as we kick off the first festival happening in our new Biergarten.

John Gooley
Oktoberfest president
