Resort display features local businesses

When Pomegranate owner Suzie Couraud was asked to decorate the Oregon Garden Resort lobby, she pounced on the opportunity to bring wider exposure to her business.

When she toured the facility, she envisioned instead an opportunity to showcase a variety of downtown Silverton businesses.

This month, Couraud unveiled in the resort’s lobby 10 cubbies filled with merchandise vignettes from the Stone Buddha, The Purl District, Lunaria Gallery, The Chocolate Box, Beads and More, Northstar Antiques, Rachel’s Place, Cat’s Meow, Miche Purses, Howard Hinsdale Cellars and Pomegranate.

The Silverton Chamber of Commerce, where Couraud is on the board, has stepped in to provide signage for the display.

“It’s a great opportunity to connect the businesses downtown with the visitors who are going to the Garden,” said Stacy Palmer, chamber executive director.

“It’s so nice for the Garden to give us the space to promote local businesses. Their visitors are our potential customers. It’s a she said the plan is to rotate in new businesses over time, giving as many vendors as possible a chance to be part of the display.

For her part, Couraud is more than happy to help her fellow business owners.

“When we all work together as a whole it is so much better,” Couraud said.

“It’s going to be really cool too; I’m really excited about it. Christine Bradbury [at Oregon Garden] was gracious enough to let me run with this idea.”
