Pizza returns to Mount Angel

Ally and Mac Corthell love pizza.

“Both of our favorite food is pizza,” Ally confirmed. “We even had pizza at our wedding.”

Which is why, when the couple moved to Mount Angel three years ago and discovered there were no local pizza restaurants, they decided they would simply have to open their own – but where?

Lucky for the Corthells, their small, red house is conveniently located in a commercial-residential zone, with a space just big enough for a food truck and a small, covered seating area.

“We decided on a mobile unit for now with the hope of expanding someday,” Ally said.

Coined, Red Haus Pizza, the food cart opened to customers for the first time on Sept. 8.

“During the grand opening a large portion of the proceeds went to the JFK Booster Club,” Ally said. “And we sold out.”

With six menu options to choose from, including the Red Haus – a German-style pizza – Mac and Ally think there’s a little something for everyone.

“You can call in or place orders online,” Ally said, noting that, while Red Haus does boast a covered seating area nearby, most customers like their pizza to-go.

“But it’s pizza…” Ally shrugged. No need to say more.

Bringing it inside: Winter Market keeps farmers connected to customers

By Melissa Wagoner “Sometimes ‘feeding your neighbors’ is a metaphorical concept, and sometimes it’s literally the best thing you can do,” Hilary Dumitrescu said when asked about the new partnership between the Silverton Friends Church’s and the new Winter Market. Dumitrescu went on to explain that two of the basic Quaker testimonies, which her church follows, are community and stewardship […]
