Construction company’s donation builds on Mt. Angel Community Building fund’s foundation

Slayden Community Fund recently donated $200,000 to the Mt. Angel Community Foundation towards the Community Building’s construction.

Also, Stayton-based Slayden Construction agreed to serve as general contractor for the project and will waive its $50,000 contracting fee.

The project is being developed by the Mt. Angel Community Foundation in partnership with Oktoberfest Inc., Mt. Angel Chamber of Commerce and the City of Mt. Angel.

The Community Building will be used for activities and public events by civic, church and nonprofit groups as well as private celebrations, and can serve as the community’s emergency facility. It will replace the existing metal structure, which was built in the early 1970s.

The foundation recently kicked off its capital campaign for the project with a variety of fundraising efforts, including sale of engraved brick pavers and a drawing featuring travel vouchers. Pavers and tickets will be sold during Wurstfest, Feb. 12-14, 2010, in the Oktoberfest Community Building at 500 S. Wilco Highway, Mt. Angel.

To contribute, contact the Foundation at mtangelcommfnd@ gmail.com or 503-559-0383.
