Cross country: JFK places high

Leonel Jines & Bridget DonohueThe Kennedy Cross Country teams concluded a successful season at the OSAA State Meet on Nov. 7. The Kennedy boys finished in 11th place and the girls took 9th.

The boys team extended its run of qualifying for state to 12 consecutive years, while the girls’ streak is now at eight years. The Kennedy boys will look to move up next year, as they return their top five runners. The girls’ team will lose senior Marissa Donohue.

The Lady Trojans were paced by sophomores Bridget Donohue, who placed 16th, and Sarah Frey, 54th.

Junior Leonel Jines led the boys with his 25th place finish, and was followed by fellow juniors Juan Ahuatl, 52nd, and Darren Hall, 68th.

Donohue earned Third Team All State honors, while Jines was an Honorable Mention All State runner.
