Ready to run: Cross country season looks promising

The Kennedy High girls cross country team is coming off a third-place finish at last fall’s OSAA Class 3A-2A-1A meet. It was the highest state finish ever for coach Steve Ritchie, now in his 15th year with the Trojans.

Kennedy High School varsity cross country coach Steve Ritchie thought his girls team would finish eighth to tenth place at the 2011 3A/2A/1A state meet at Lane Community College on Nov. 5.

Anderson earns cross country recognition

Silverton High School sophomore Morgan Anderson took 24th place at the OSAA 5A State Cross Country Meet with a time of 20 minutes and 25 seconds, earning her an All-State Honorable Mention.

Kennedy High fall sports All State honors named

The OSAA recently announced winners of the Dairy Farmers of Oregon Academic All State honors for fall sports. Kennedy High School Boys Cross Country team came in first place in the 1A/2A/3A division with a team GPA of 3.74.

Cross country: JFK places high

The Kennedy Cross Country teams concluded a successful season at the OSAA State Meet on Nov. 7. The Kennedy boys finished in 11th place and the girls took 9th.
