JFK runners rank high at cross-country meet

At the Silver Falls Invitational cross-country meet hosted by Stayton High School on Oct. 1, John F. Kennedy High School’s Bridget Donohue won the Varsity Girls’ race in 20:57, narrowly edging Blanchet’s Emily Hillmer in the last 100 meters of the race. Teammates Sarah Frey and Rosa Alcaraz were 13th and 14th respectively, but, due to injuries and illness, Kennedy’s girls’ team was incomplete (five runners are required to score as a team).
The Kennedy boys finished second in the varsity race behind Stayton at the 10-team meet. Top Trojan finishers were Leonel Jines, sixth place, 17:50; and Juan Ahuatl, seventh place, 18:10.
