Parenting series start

Silverton Together presents “Parenting with Love & Logic” on Thursday evenings from Oct. 8 to Nov. 19.
The course is for any parent who wants practical techniques for less stressful, more effective parenting, more ease in family life and the joy of raising responsible children.

Sharon Manion leads the classes, which take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Silverton Together Parent Education Classroom, 802 Schlador St. (the old Silverton high school, James Street gym entrance, first door to the right). Fee is $55 per person or $75 per couple, scholarships are available. There will be free childcare on site. To register, call 503-873-0405 or email [email protected].

Terrific Twos, too
The parenting class“Terrific Twos,” begins in October. It is designed for parents of children 18 months to 3 years.

Learn what makes 2-year-olds tick and how to build cooperation, responsibility and respect. Discussion addresses setting limits, dealing with tantrums and welcoming siblings.

Instructor Michelle Senecal leads the course, which takes place on 10 consecutive Tuesdays.

Sessions run from Oct. 6 to Dec. 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Silverton Together Parent Education Classroom, 802 Schlador St. (the old high school, James Street gym entrance, first door to the right).

Series under way

“Making Parenting a Pleasure,” continues on Wednesdays through Dec. 16.

Parents gather from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. to meet other parents and share information about understanding children, with a goal of better enjoyment of parenting and less stress.

Sessions take place in the Silverton Together Parent Education Classroom, 802 Schlador St. (the old high school, James Street gym entrance, first door to the right) Silverton.

The fee is $15 per family, with scholarships available.

Senior Center: Moving Ahead

Plans are rolling along on Silverton’s new senior center and although money is coming in to fund the project, more is necessary to bring it to fruition.
