Silvertongues take Toastmaster awards

Silvertongues Toastmaster Club members Beth Brown and Le Snelling recently  participated in two speech contests sponsored by Toastmasters International. Brown placed first and Snelling second in the speech contest at the club level, advanced them to the next level.  

Snelling placed first at the area speech contest in Salem. His speech, “The Best Medicine,” was about the importance of laughter. 

An Evaluation Contest is also part of the annual spring competition. Brown won the evaluation contest at club and area levels. Contestants give a two- to three-minute evaluation of a Target Speech. They are judged on their observational, analytical and presentation skills.
