O’fest food sales soar

David Kohler, director of food booth operations for Mt. Angel Oktoberfest, reported record sales for the 50 participating food booths. Sales for 2008 were $661,157 compared to $638,209 in 2007.

For many of the non-profit agencies who sell food products, Oktoberfest is the major fund-raiser of the year.

The leading booth this year was St. Mary’s Parish Church in Mt. Angel with sales of $45,650 followed by the Silverton Knights of Columbus at $43,166 and the Gervais Knights of Columbus at $38,166.

“We are very pleased with these results,” Oktoberfest President John Gooley said. “The food booths, along with the other operational areas of the festival are showing substantial increases in making this the biggest and the best Oktoberfest ever put on by the people of Mt. Angel. We thank our many guests who made this possible.”
