The Forum: Mt. Angel

Dear Mt. Angel Chamber of Commerce:

My family and I have visited Mt. Angel Oktoberfest for the past couple of years and thoroughly enjoyed it. We enjoyed it so much that we were making plans to move our family business there…

This past holiday weekend we came again because we thought it would be easier to get around when Oktoberfest is not going on. We wanted to see any business property for sale and also look at a couple of houses.   What a shocker that was. Your downtown area is charming with all the flowers and well kept streets but your residential areas are a whole different story. We saw streets that hadn’t been paved in years and crumbling sidewalks and in some cases no sidewalk at all. One street looked like it had never been paved but the houses appeared to be nice and well kept. What gives?

What do you people do with all that Oktoberfest money? You sure don’t spend it on your residential areas. We even went by a small park that had nothing but dead grass. This is your idea of a park? Needless to say we won’t be bringing our business to Mt. Angel…

We just felt we had to write and let you know of our experience.
