Jane Jones named Silverton First Citizen

The Silverton Chamber of Commerce announced the recipients of the 2014 community awards to be presented at the chamber’s annual First Citizen Banquet, this year scheduled for Feb. 28 at the Mount Angel Festhalle.

Jane Jones, a community volunteer, is the First Citizen.

Silverton High senior Valeria Vazquez-Trejo is the Future First Citizen.

Distinguished Service award will go to  Marta Hazekamp, founder of American Academy of Performing Arts Corp. in Silverton

Lifetime Achievement award will be presented to Jim Brueckner, Silverton High School science teacher and former coach.

Business of the Year winner is Our Town.

Stories on all the recipients will be in the Feb. 15 of Our Town.
