Rotary stages ‘May Madness’ alumni basketball

You watched them dazzle the crowds playing basketball for Silverton High School over the decades. The question now is now, do they still “got game?”

The answer will be clear when the Silverton Rotary Club’s “May Madness” Alumni Basketball Extravaganza begins at 6:30 p.m. May 19 at the Silverton High School Schlador Street Campus. Event tickets are $5.

The event is a fundraiser for the Silverton Rotary. The club provides scholarships to graduating seniors, sponsors an international youth exchange program, gives dictionaries to fourth-graders, provides clothes for needy children and contributes to Polio Eradication and Clean Water projects in developing nations.

Rotary Club members are also selling $10 tickets for a drawing with prizes that include a Traeger BBQ, a week’s stay at a downtown Portland condo, a one-hour plane ride, wine baskets and more. Winners will be drawn at May Madness. Activities will also include a $500 Half-Court Shot sponsored by Bill Johnson of Allstate Insurance and an NBA-style 3-point contest. Contact Brett Davisson at 503-873-0828 for game tickets and Beth Davisson at 503-873-2818 or any other Rotarian for drawing tickets.
