Wine and song: Event center festival brings entertainment, tastings

Enjoy a glass of wine and great food at the first Mt. Angel Fine Wine and Food Festival April 3 and 4 at the Willamette Valley Events Center in Mt. Angel.

Mt. Angel Fine Wine & Food Festival
April 3, 4 to 11 p.m. and April 4 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Willamette Valley Events Center, 210 Monroe St.
Tickets: $4 or $10 with wine glass

The event is hosted by RONG Produkshuns, a division of Wooden Nickel. Admission is $4 per person or $10 for entry and a wine glass. 

“Part of the admission we receive will be donated to Mt. Angel Booms and Blooms for its flower baskets and fireworks,” she said.

 Besides featuring local eateries and wineries, there will be live music and families are welcome until 9 p.m. 

Musicians performing on April 3 are Lloyd Jones, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Jim Mesi Band  from 8:30 to 11 p.m. 

The entertainment for April 4 includes Linda Hornbuckle and Janice Scroggins from 3  to 4:45 p.m.; Bill Rhoads and Allan Hager from 5  to 6:45 p.m.; Terry Robb from 7 to 8:45 p.m. and Kolvane from 9 to 11 p.m. 

 The wineries will be offer tastings and a bit of wine 101 as well as offering bottles of wine for sale.  It is up to the discretion of wineries whether or not they will charge a tasting fee, Natalie Kragt of the Wooden Nickel said.

The food vendors participating in this event will have both free samples and food items for sale.  Food vendors will be located on the main floor and in the outdoor tent.

Craft and retail vendors will be displaying items from kitchen accessories to purses.  Craft and retail vendors will be located on the deck and in the outside tent.

Vendors at the event include Wooden Nickel Catering, Willamette Valley Vineyards, Monastery Mustard, Vitis Vineyard, Mia Sonatina, Nehalem Bay Winery, Marks Ridge, Steel Knight Designs, Miche Bags, Bavarian Haus, Howard Hinsdale Cellars, Glokenspiel Restaurant, Silver Falls Vineyard, Abiqua Winds, David Hill Winery, Pampered Chef, Timbergrove Stained Glass, Fire Bug Pottery, Abiqua Country Estates, Emerson Vineyards, Ryan Celt Systems, Christopher Bridge Winery and Hip Chics Do Wine.
