Mount Angel Oktoberfest was judged by the Oregon Festivals and Events Association as the state’s Best Festival or Event with a Budget Over $150,000 or more than 40,000 Attendees.

The award was presented to Oktoberfest at the association’s annual conference in Seaside in March.

The community of Mount Angel invited everyone to “Come join the Harvest Dance” in 2012 and young and old alike came to celebrate.

More than 85 Mount Angel school children from third grade through high school participated in the dancing performances each day to open Oktoberfest.  Local college students presented a fine performance of the Bavarian Schuhplattler; and young married couples performed in the Kleinstädtler and Fleckensteiner folk dance teams.

Talent from Canada, New York, Utah, California and the Donaumusikanten from Germany provided the Alpine music. The venues were filled to capacity. Not only was there music, but there was dancing, alphorns, cowbells and fun.

This festival is fun, festive and a destination of choice for travelers in the Willamette Valley, all over the Northwest, and returning Oktoberfest ‘veterans’ from as far away as Canada, Wisconsin, Virginia and Europe. Mount Angel is Oregon’s Bavaria during Oktoberfest.
