Work rewarded: Silverton Dance Team continues its success at state

Silverton Dance TeamThe Silverton High School Dance Team members have once again been rewarded for the countless hours of practice and their dedication.

The team received the fourth-place trophy in the 5A Intermediate Division at the Oregon state competition in March. For 18 years, coach Paula Magee has taken her team to state competitions and only twice the team has not brought home a trophy. Last year, the team took second at state.

The Silverton High School Dance Team placed fourth at the state competition in March.

Team members are: seniors Elana Schimschok and Marla Waters; juniors: Captains Dakota Druley, Leah Geck and Jordan Teeney; and Mary Jones; sophomores: Mckenzie Grey, Celeah Norris and Renae Stratton and freshmen: India Bosshardt, Emily Feicht, Nicole Finch, Chelsea Godon, Jena Henrix, Maddy Hulett, Charlotte Jones and Olivia Rumpca.

With no returning seniors and eight freshmen on the team, the girls worked hard to achieve several trophies at various competitions during their season.

Alex Reese, a new assistant coach, did some of the choreography. Emily Sword, also an assistant coach, helped guide the team through practices and competitions.
