The Old Curmudgeon: Thankful for my readers

By Vern Holmquist

We are now well into the middle of our holiday season and what I have to say may better be left until the New Year. It is, however, the time to be thankful for all the blessings we have received.

I am thankful for you readers who have thanked me for my little piece before our recent election where in I cautioned about our two major political parties fighting each other and leaving an opening for a third party to slip in. That third party, in this case is known as the Tea Party, drew voters from both the Democrats and Republicans who considered them too radical.

It now appears that some in the Tea Party have joined hands with the likes of the Patriot movement, the skinheads, and the gun lobby, Gun Owners of America.

I do not believe I would like to live in the radical world the Tea Party and their gun toting allies are proposing. I just don’t think I would look good walking around with a gun hanging from my hip.

The Old Curmudgeon: Life, tailor-made

By Vern Holmquist Whoah…. Hold on there. I haven’t gone anyplace. I just needed to kick some of the old stuff I have crammed into this small brain of mine, sort of clean it up so that only the good thoughts remain. I think the doctors call it a stroke. The problem is, all those thoughts don’t come back all […]
