Making its mark: Monitor winery wins gold in New York competition

Hanson Vineyards, located in Monitor, won a gold medal for their 2007 Willamette Valley Pinot noir at the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition. The ceremony took place in Rochester, NY.

Nearly 700 international wineries entered this long-running wine event. More than 3,000 wines were tasted during the competition.

“We just couldn’t be more pleased,” said co-owner Jason Hanson, “Since we focus on our Pinot noir, it pretty terrific for this wine to earn us our first gold medal.”

A small, family-owned winery, Hanson Vineyards was established in Monitor in 2005. It is a partnership between Clark and Marlene Hanson and their son, Jason of Hoquiam, Wash.
