Altman book signing set at gallery

The Round-Up by Ann AltmanAnn Altman is an award-winning artist, well-known for her paintings. Now she can add author to her title.

Her book, The Round-Up, will be featured at Lunaria Gallery on Saturday, May 15. Altman will sign her work from noon to 2 p.m. Some of the original art will also be available for sale. The gallery is located at 113 N. Water St., and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Two years ago, Altman read a book by Ken Kesey based on a controversial 1911 competition at the Pendleton Round-Up in which an African American, an American Indian and a white man were in keen competition. The black man beat all comers but the judges awarded the prize to the white man.

Altman was inspired to write a children’s book about the event. She also is its illustrator.
