SHS Speech team takes second in state

The Silverton High School Speech and Debate team took second place in 5A OSAA Speech and Debate State Tournament at Western Oregon University in April.

Angela Rofelty placed second in Prose. Finalists were Dallas Goschie in Expository; Michelle Golan in Prose; Haley Karlson in Dramatic Interpretation; Gavin Knox in Humorous Interpretation and Aden Krueger in After Dinner Speaking. Joel Senecal was a semi-finalist in After Dinner Speaking, and Truman Mallon qualified to Super Congress. Jasmine Kim was a quarter-finalist in Lincoln-Douglas Debate.  Speech and Debate Coach Matt Ogle received “Outstanding Speech, Debate, and Theater Coach” award from the National Federation of State High School Associations.
