Something for the Soul: Seeds of our subconscious

Winnie BoltonBy Winnie Bolton

Do you ever wonder about your subconscious mind?

Recently, I read an essay, “The Will to Believe,” by the pragmatic psychologist/philosopher William James, who wrote that a person has the right to believe things that lack scientific evidence like the power of faith.

Our subconscious mind is a recording machine reproducing whatever we impress upon it unknowingly or knowingly.

It is impersonal and unchanging, neither considering persons nor respecting affiliations or institutions of any kind. It is neither compassionate nor vindictive.

We are the only thinkers in our mind.

Our thoughts are creative remembering. Another person is not responsible for the way we think about him/her or the situations that occur at unplanned or changing times which may be distressing to us or not.

When we understand the creative law and our own minds, we cease to blame others for making or marring our lives.

All we owe any person in the world is love and love is wishing for everyone what you wish for yourself – health, happiness and all the blessings of life – the Golden Rule.

Maybe realizing my heart’s cherished desire through the marvelous power of my subconscious mind would be to acquire a vision of myself as a happy, wholesome person so I can become a pleasure to myself and others. If I believe I was born in the image and likeness of God, then there’s my goal planted in my subconscious.

William James stated the greatest discovery of the 19th Century was the power of the subconscious mind touched by faith.

I believe he tapped into a gold mine.
