SATURDAY, APRIL 18

Favorite Poem Project. 11 a.m., Fischer Building, 408 S. Water St. All who care to read are invited to share a favorite poem by a favorite poet, along with a brief commentary on the poem’s personal significance.

Poetry Workshop with Paulann Petersen. 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. Gordon House, 879 W. Main St. $30. (Advance registration required; send check to Silverton Poetry Association, 303 Coolidge St., Silverton, 97381)

Featured Poets Reading. 7 p.m., Gordon House. Stephanie Lenox, Paulann Petersen and Laura Weeks.

 

SUNDAY, APRIL 19

Poetry and Music. 3 p.m., Mt. Angel Abbey Library. Poems by Heinrich Heine and Nikolaus Lenau in musical settings by Robert Schumann and Christopher Wicks, plus Ravel’s “Mother Goose Suite.”

 

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22
Open Mic Poetry Reading.
7 p.m., Rolling Hills Bakery, 106 N. First St.

 

THURSDAY, APRIL 23

Visual-Verbal Exchanges. 7 p.m., Silver Falls Library. Presentation of collaborations created by visual artists and poets responding to each other’s work. Co-sponsored with Silverton Arts Association.

 

FRIDAY, APRIL 24

Featured Poets Reading. 7 p.m. White Steeple Gallery, 314 Jersey St. Judith Arcana, Carlos Reyes & Jennifer Richter.

 

SATURDAY, APRIL 25

Young Poets Reading. 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Silver Falls Library. Winners of the Youth Poetry Contest and other young poets from elementary through high school share their writing.

Talking Poets. 7 p.m. 101 N. Water St. (corner of Main). Poets Penelope Scambly Schott and John Witte read and discuss their work.

 

SUNDAY, APRIL 26

Feast of Poets. 2-4 p.m., Silver Falls Vineyards, 4972 Cascade Highway SE. Enjoy readings by invited poets and gustatory delights. Five poets will share their work: Alison Apotheker, Herman Asarnow, John Edge, Kathleen Halme and Will Schneberg.

Heidi Schindler was having the time of her life – a stolen weekend snowboarding in amazing weather at Schweitzer Mountain Resort in Sandpoint, Idaho, one of the Northwest’s premier ski spots. Streetscape: More input sought

Silverton’s Urban Renewal Agency / City Council is considering implementation of streetscape improvements recommended in the 2007 Downtown Master Plan. The goal is to enhance downtown for business, recreation and civic life.
