Photo Gallery: SHS boys basketball takes sixth at state

The Silverton High School boys basketball team earned sixth place at the OSAA Class 5A at the state tournament at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene on March 10, losing 56 – 45 to Mountain View High School, which took fourth place.

With a 22-6 record, the team played Corvallis in the first round of the state championship tournament, losing 66- 47. In the finals Corvallis won the state championship by defeating Milwaukie High School. The Foxes defeated Eagle Point, 61-49 to advance to the consolation bracket to play Mountain View.

Team members are seniors Julian Canda, Torrey Rogness, Grant Martinson, Devin Geiger and Alex Clokey; juniors Joseph Schaefer, Zach Gengler, Trevor Bledsoe, Preston Kirk, Toby Roth and Zach Gould; and freshman Cole Chandler.

The team is coached by Darren Shryock and assistant coaches Steve Roth, Tal Wold and Brett Davisson.

Mid-Willamette Valley all-conference honorees: Zach Gengler and Toby Roth, first team; Torrey Rogness, second team, and Julian Canda, honorable mention. Coach Darren Shryock was named Mid-Willamette Valley Coach of the Year.
