Donohue, Morrissey named finalists

Marissa Donohue and Alex Morrissey were recently selected as state finalists in Wendy’s High School Heisman Awards program.

From each state, 10 females and 10 males are chosen as state finalists. Soon they will learn if they are state winners. Both are seniors at Kennedy High School.

The Wendy’s High School Heisman program chooses one girl and one boy from each high school based on a fairly extensive application that considers academic aptitude, athletic talent and community leadership.

According to the program’s materials, “The purpose of the award is to encourage future leadership by recognizing well-balanced lifestyles as an early age.”

Mrs. McKenna, the high school counselor, said it is very uncommon for a school to have two state finalists, especially a smaller school.
