A Silverton man arrested in December after leading police on a DUII chase has been sentenced to 90 days in jail in a plea agreement.
Michael James Imel, 36, pleaded guilty March 20 Marion County Circuit Court to DUII, reckless driving, resisting arrest, third-degree escape, refusal to take a test for intoxicants and two counts each of attempting to elude a police officer, recklessly endangering another person and second-degree criminal mischief.
He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, 18 months of probation, a one-year driver’s license suspension and a total of $2,055 in fines. He was also required to undergo substance abuse and mental health evaluations, and may not consume alcohol or cannabis or frequent places where either are sold while on probation.
Imel was arrested Dec. 7, 2022, after he was seen driving recklessly through the city. Police pursued Imel into a residential area where the final moments of the pursuit were captured on a doorbell camera.
Imel was seen striking two police vehicles with his car, then came to rest in the front yard of a nearby residence. He attempted to flee on foot but was taken into custody.
