Roy Eldon Johnson (Eldon as he preferred to be called) passed away on Aug. 4, 2022 after an extended illness. He died surrounded by family and friends in Silverton.
Eldon was born in Eureka, California to Gunnar and Mayme Johnson. He graduated from Eureka Senior High School and worked most of his life in the lumber and building supply business.
Eldon was in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Afterwards he moved to Oregon to be near his parents and other family.
He worked for Copeland Lumber and Keith Brown Lumber.
Eldon received spiritual fellowship and blessings from his friends and pastor in Silverton Friends Church.
Eldon is survived by his brothers, Linwood and Gordon, and their families, also by his daughter, Tish Kristina Smith and her five children.
Eldon especially loved camping in his little teardrop trailer with his dog companion, Makenzie, and meeting new friends, and also working on classic cars. He had a special bond with his granddaughter, Rebecca, and his grandniece, Sara.
The family wishes to thank Eldon’s friends Bob, Wendy and Chuck for all their loving help in Eldon’s last days.
A family ceremony will be held at a later date.
