Tis the season for jolly entertainments. Festive functions drew together residents and visitors to celebrate in hometown style. Silverton started off on First Friday, Dec. 7, with Christmas tree lighting, music and shopping.
On Dec. 8, Mt. Angel hosted Kristkindlmarkt with vendors, crafts and music.

Mt. Angel’s Kennedy Trojans finished the 2009 season as second in the state for 2A football, but their dream season was not over. They made another dream come true. Five members of the team accompanied by coach and Spanish teacher David Stavros and his wife, Gina, went to Lima, Peru over Christmas break to dedicate a home for a family that was built with money the team raised earlier this year.
Incumbents for two out of the three Mt. Angel City Council seats on the Nov. 8 ballot have confirmed their intent to run for re-election.
