Stayton entrepreneur Ryan Hendricks now operates a second shop – this one in Salem – to serve his customers.

“A second location has always been part of the plan, I just didn’t know when,” said Hendricks, owner of Finishing Touch Auto Detailing. “Our new location is more convenient for our clients in Salem, has indoor wash bays, and is climate-controlled so we can provide top-notch quality work all year-round. This new indoor space allows for even more control of the elements, making it perfect for high-end paint corrections and installing Opti-Coat Paint Protection Film.”

In the spring of 2017, Hendricks moved from his small shop to a larger shop in Stayton. Once settled, he began looking for shop space in Salem and the Portland Metro area. Just a few weeks after securing a Salem location, he opened the shop.

“I spend the first three months working at the Salem location so that things would be set up exactly how I wanted them to be,” he said. “Just a few weeks ago, I started working at the Stayton location again and transferred Travis, our lead paint correction detailer, to the Salem shop.”

Winter is a slower season for FTA, he said, and usually he downsizes his staff, but having both shops has allowed him to keep all five of his core employees this year. Because of the expansion and continued growth, he plans to hire three or four more in 2018.

“As always, we try to go above and beyond what other detail businesses consider ‘standard,’” he said. “So far all of our clientele in Salem has been extremely impressed with our quality of work, the performance of our protection products, and the easy access location.”

Many of his Salem customers came as referrals from area businesses such as All American Trucking and SUV Accessories, and the local Power Dealership.

“Salem has been very welcoming, and clients are happy to have a high-end detail shop in Salem finally,” said Hendricks, who was named 2016 Young Professional of the Year by the Stayton Sublimity Chamber of Commerce. Hendricks plans to expand into the Portland area, Eugene area and Central Oregon in the next two to three years.

“We’ve had many clients from those areas drive to Stayton for our services so we know there is a demand and we’re determined to fill that need,” he said.

Running his own business, he said, “just feels right.”

“Freedom has always been very important to me. Having the ability to direct the company any direction I choose is awesome,” Hendricks said.

Some wouldn’t consider a 60- to 100-hour work week “freedom,” but Hendricks thrives on knowing what he is doing makes a difference in his clients’ and employees’ lives.

“And that we’re paving the future for auto detailing,” he said. “I’m so grateful for the immense support from the whole community over the past three years, and am looking forward to continuing to offer the best detailing services available.”

Hendricks has reformulated the shop’s menu to offer more economical options, including custom interior detailing from $50 to $200 and ceramic coatings starting at $350. The Salem location is at 3131 Portland Road NE. The Stayton location is at 101 N Second Ave.
