Photo Gallery: Silverton Basketball at State Championship

The Silverton High School boys basket-ball team advanced to the state tourn-ament for the first time since 1969.

The Foxes earned third place in the OSAA Class 5A state tournament defeating Crescent Valley 47-31; losing to ultimate state champion Jefferson High School, 83-57; and defeating Pendleton, 56-42.

The team finished the season as the Mid-Willamette champions with a 13-1 record, 25-3 overall.

Players were seniors Tyler Bellando, Taylor Burton, Dawson Gould, Kurt Heneveld, Jason Martin, Kyle Preston, Hank Ulven and Levi Warriner; junior Daniel Roth, sophomore Torrey Rogness and freshmen Zach Gengler and Toby Roth. Coaches were Darren Shryock, Brett Davisson, Steve Roth and Andrew Martin.

Mid-Willamette Valley all-conference honorees: Taylor Burton, Jason Martin and Tyler Bellando, first team; Kyle Preston, second team, and Zach Gengler, honorable mention. Coach Darren Shryock, Mid-Willamette Valley Coach of the Year.

U.S. Bank/Les Schwab Tires All-Tournament Team: Jason Martin, first team; Taylor Burton, second team.
Silverton also won the state tournament’s Sportsmanship Trophy.
