Somewhere, a single mom struggles to keep food on the table. The situations vary, but whether she lives in the country or inner-city Portland, chances are the last thing on her mind is sending her children to camp this summer. Canyonview leaders hope to change that. Bringing those kids to camp is the aim of Operation Full Camp.
His legacy continues. In December, the family of Dale Price unveiled two books compiled from his life and writings. Price, co-founder and executive director of Canyonview Camp in the Silverton hills, died April 16, 2011, at 63.
Canyonview Camp holds its annual Benefit Dinner and Auction Saturday, Nov. 5. The popular event, “Investing in Eternity,” is the camp’s primary fundraiser, providing “camperships” to enable all kids the Canyonview experience.
Kids and counselors circle the campfire, singing camp songs and cowboy ballads to music played on a guitar – it’s a tradition at Canyonview Camp, one that creates lifetime memories. Even more so for Matthew Price, son of the guitar-playing camp director, who was raised at the Christian camp.
Horses, friends, spending quality time with mom – way cool! That’s how Grace Nagel summed up her time at one of Canyonview Camp’s mother-daughter retreats. The 13-year-old has attended camps at Canyonview ever since she could walk, said Joyce, her mom.
