Tasting tours: Thanksgiving weekend tradition

Local wineries will be open for the traditional Thanksgiving weekend open house, Nov. 27-29.

Domaine Margelle Vineyards will be open only Nov. 28.

Abiqua Wind Vineyards
will have tastings at the old Marqum Store in downtown Marquam on Highway 213. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 27-29.  “Our delicious ’08 Pinot noir will make its exclusive debut; quite possibly our best offering of this varietal to date.” Fresh homegrown holiday wreaths and wine-related gifts will be available as well. AlexEli Vineyard and Winery
, 35803 S. Highway 213, Molalla, is open noon to 5 p.m. for wine tasting. There will be a preliminary tasting of the first vintage Pinot noir. Appetizers will be served. 503-829-6677
Domaine Margelle Vineyards, 20159 Hazelnut Ridge Road, Scotts Mill, is having a Thanksgivng Wine Tasting and Food Pairing Event. Seating is at noon and 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28. Cost is $35 per person. Chef Jeff Nizlek of Silverton’s Silver Grille Restaurant will create three indiviudal small plates of food to be paired with wine. Reservations required. 503-873-0692

Vitis Ridge is open 11 a.m.  to 6 p.m. at 6685 Meridan Road, N.E., Silverton. Tasting fee of $5 includes Vitis Ridge logo glass, hors d’oeuvres and live music by Portland guitarist Kit Garoutte playing daily 1-5 p.m. New releases include Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Fab Four – the vineyard’s first blend.
