Tree of Giving: Neighbors helping neighbors

In November families can either donate to or sign-up for the annual Tree of Giving, sponsored by the Silverton Zenith Women’s Club.

To get holiday help
Families wishing to sign up
to receive the holiday asistance
should to register at the Silverton
Community Center, 421 S. Water St.:
Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1-3 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 11, 10 a.m. to noon
Thursday, Nov. 12, 3 to 5 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1-3 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 18, 10 a.m. to noon,
Thursday, Nov. 19, 3 to 5 p.m.

Community members can select a tag from a tree and help families in need during the holiday season by purchasing clothes and toys for children.

To be eligible for the Tree of Giving program the family must demonstrate financial need.

Recipients must live in Silverton or Scotts Mills or have children in the Silver Falls School District where there are no other holiday programs. Each child can only be registered once.  A parent or legal guardian needs to register the child and must bring the following:

• Photo identification or driver license for person registering the child(ren).

• Social Security card, current vaccination card or current school registration for each child. Please give school secretaries two days notice when requesting a copy of the school registration. Inform them it’s for the Tree of Giving and the copy costs may be waived.

• Proof of address (current utility bill).

• Proof of income (Housing Assistance letter, current WIC card or check stubs from last two months or last year’s tax return.)

Volunteers from the Silverton Women Zenith’s Club, Silverton Together and Somos Hispanas Unidas will help families with registration.
