Rebecca Cross to dance on a new stage – in Pittsburgh

By Cambria Roth

At 3 Rebecca Cross was gliding across the wooden floors of the Silverton Ballet and Performing Arts Co.

This summer and fall the Silverton High senior will take her talent and experience to the graduate program for the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. “I have been dancing more professionally since I was 13 through Pacific Festival Ballet and more recently Portland Youth Ballet,” Cross said.

The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School is a program that provides advanced level training to high school graduates who are preparing to audition for professional positions. Cross is content with where she is at the moment but hopes to continue to advance in the ballet business from a group of dancers called corps to a more prominent position.

“I hope to have graduated from the program in two years and be a part of their company while I continue to work my way from corps to a principal dancer,” Cross said. “I am very excited to use this opportunity to get my name out there.”
