Silverton High and NASA Prepare For Eclipse from Mt. Angel Publishing on Vimeo.

A total solar eclipse will occur over Silverton, Oregon on the morning of August 21, 2017.  Silverton High School is one of 55 teams chosen from across the nation to work with NASA on a once-in-a-lifetime project: the students will launch a balloon into the stratosphere with a payload containing a video camera to live-stream the eclipse, and sensors to record atmospheric conditions.

The public is invited to join Silverton High School’s High Altitude Balloon Team and their astronomy professor, Creighton Helms, for the final launch at 8:45 AM on the morning of August 21 at Silverton High.  There will be a small fee for parking.
