Hall of famer: WOU salutes Brian Traeger

Brian TraegerFormer Kennedy High School football quarterback Brian Traeger has been selected to the Western Oregon University Athletic Hall of Fame. Induction ceremony will be April 17 at WOU in Monmouth in the Werner University Center, Pacific Room. Traeger will be one of six Class of 2009 inductees who are recognized as outstanding contributors to the tradition of OCE/WOSC/WOU athletics.

There will be a no-host reception for all attendees beginning at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will begin at 6:30. Members of the public, friends of the inductees, and alumni and supporters of the WOU athletic program are invited. For tickets call 503-838-8252.

Traeger was a record-breaking quarterback for the Wolves from l993-96 and he still holds the record for most passing yards in a career with 6,778, and total offense yards with 7,097. He is also second on WOU’s all-time list in passes completed (496) and touchdown throws (38). Traeger is also single-season record holder in total offense (2,866 yards, 1996) and pass accuracy (.628, 1994). He is a three-time All-Columbia Football Association selection as quarterback.

Traeger’s holds five Kennedy High School records for his performance on the Trojans’ offensive unit.
