FFA: Students will compete at state

JFK student Grant Aman The Silverton High School FFA took 17 students on March 2 to compete at the FFA Sectional Contests in Forest Grove. This sectional contest was held after a district competition at Cascade High School to determine who competed in sectionals.

Carson States placed first in exempt speaking. Casey Rush received third place in advanced public speaking. Riane Towery competed in sophomore public speaking. The advanced ParliPro team of Lane Martin, Riane Towery, Kaylee Spencer, Bethany Ross, Kelsey Potter and Colby Qualey took second place. Dakota Hagenauer, Taylor Unger, Dunia Baghdanov, Shelby Hagenauer, Hunter Fennimore and Joel Donley made up the beginning ParliPro team that placed fourth.

States and Towery will compete at the 50th Oregon State Convention on March 20-23 at Eastern Oregon University.

Kennedy High School junior Grant Aman received first place in the FFA District Co-Op Quiz on Feb. 26. He will compete at the state convention in La Grande in late March.

Joining him at the state convention will be Kaylee Aman and Ashlee Jones. They each took second place in FFA Sectional Competition at Forest Grove on March 2. Aman took second in Creed Speaking and Jones received second for Job Interview.

“I am extremely proud of the hard work and effort these students have put into their endeavors in the FFA,” Kennedy High FFA Advisor Daniel Bolen said. “The community definitely has something to be proud of in these students.”
