The Hazelnut Fest includes a German Holiday Market featuring regional arts and crafts, authentic and traditional German Christmas Decorations and Crafts, Oregon wineries and breweries, as well as foods that highlight hazelnuts.

The festival is held in the Festhalle, 500 Wilco Hwy. NE.

Events include the “Run For Your Nuts” 5K roadrace/walk on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 9 a.m.  Runners and Walkers can register at www.racenorthwest.com.

Joe Szabo – known as the Accordion Man will entertain both days.  Musician Kathy Valdez will perform on Sunday.  Santa will visit with the children both afternoons.

The event received the Ovation award for “2013 Best New Festival” by the Oregon Festival & Events Assoc.  The OFEA members represent more than 1,200 Festivals & Events in Oregon.

“The history of the Hazelnut in the Willamette Valley of Oregon dates back to the settlement of the valley by early French settlers. Today, more than 650 growers are located in Oregon – the prime growing region for hazelnuts in the United States,” said Maureen Ernst, co-chair of the event.
