Susan Jean (Lung) Conway: July 28, 1949 – March 26, 2014

Susan Jean (Lung) Conway was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 11 p.m. on March 26, 2014. She died peacefully in the arms of her husband after a five year battle with brain cancer. Susan gave her life to Jesus in May 1970. Since then she has been spreading His word to others.

A celebration of Susan’s life begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 at Macleay Bible Church – 2108 84th Ave SE in Macleay.

Susan was born in Portland, Ore. and graduated from Silverton Union High School in 1967. In the spring of 1967 she met her husband Mark, they were married 1970 and together raised two sons Matthew and Gregory Conway. She graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in education in 1971. The family traveled from Corvallis to Houston, Texas; Germany; El Paso, Texas, and finally settled in Modesto, Calif. Living in Modesto brought out the creative side of Susan where she and her good friend Maggie Zeff became business partners and developed a unique children’s clothing line named Ragamuffin, selling by mail order catalogs. This was such a success that they soon opened a store with the same name.  The business sold in 2011 after 30 years of clothing the children of Modesto.

Susan’s passion was learning and teaching the Word. She attended and was a leader in Bible Study Fellowship for 16 years – loving the Lord with all her heart, mind and strength. She was a wonderful

wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was an inspiration to many and she always wanted to glorify God in everything she did.

Susan is survived by her husband Mark, her sons Matthew (Sherry) and Gregory (Trisha), by her grandchildren Gwyneth, James, Annabelle and Owen. Siblings: Dewey Lung, Leslie Rands, and Teeny Marcum and their families. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jimmie Lung, father, Arthur Lung and sister Linda Potter. We shall all gather again on the “sea of Glass” in heaven.
