Brian Damewood: July 21, 1970 – June 5, 2014

Brian DamewoodSilverton resident Brian Damewood, 43,  passed away peacefully passed away at his home on June 5, 2014 from ALS.

Brian is survived by his two sons, Branden and Bradley Damewood, his ex-wife and friend Mandi Verboort , his father Glen Damewood, his mother Kelly Miller and step-father Jim Miller, his sister Adrienne Rappleyea, grandfather Glen Damewood, and grandmother Amy Hensley.  He also leave 15 aunts and uncles and their spouses, and 37 cousins who he loved and cherished. He adored his family and the time he spent with them.

After graduating from Silverton High School, Brian worked at local businesses and for his family’s business, The Wooden Nickel.

Brian honed his artistic abilities by mastering the art of tying flies, carving and painting fishing lures, gardening, photography, drawing and painting. He  played pool and loved camping, hiking, and being outdoors. Fishing was part of his soul.  His family recalls he was good at anything he put his mind to. He was most proud of his two sons.

Music played a huge role in his life. He rarely missed a good concert or a chance to dance.  He is remembered for appreciating the greatness in all people – no matter who they were or where they came from – and for his compassion and generous spirit.  Brian had the ability to light up the room with his smile.  His love of life was contagious.

The family plans to have a celebration of his life.  Arrangements will be announced at a later date.
