People come from all over the area to have their babies at the fantastic Silverton Health Birth Center. The Man recently got to experience why with the arrival of first grandson Conner James Kinghorn. Have you seen the large American flag that Greg Gossack and the

boys at Garden City Bark erected at the entry into town on Silverton Road?  No matter how divided we seem to be as a country sometimes, it’s always good to be reminded that old glory represents the greatest nation in the world…and that we are privileged to live in it.

Speaking of our greatness, where else than the good ‘ol US of A could you create a business around makin yer “stuff” not stink? While perusing the aisles at Whimsy Boutique the other day The Man came across Poo Pourri, a product that promises to “Leave the toilet smelling better than you found it” (The Manette says I would likely need the “industrial strength” version…). With product names like “Deja Poo”, “Royal Flush” and “Trap-A-Crap”, it must be good…For more info, stop by Whimsy and ask for The Big Cheese…and God bless America!

You just can’t make this stuff up… A theater in England had to cancel a recent showing of the new biblical epic film Noah… because the theater flooded…

‘Nuther one bites the dust….Silverton Public Works director Gerald Fisher has decided to go back to an engineering job in the the private sector. He probably won’t admit it but it’s easy to imagine that all the political falderal in these parts was a factor in his (and others) decision…Join The Man in wishing Gerald well…

The sun is out, the skies are blue, the bees and the business community are buzzing with activity: Silverton Gymnastics moved into the former Withers Lumber location on Eska Way… Elle Spa has moved and is ready to pamper you in their new location where The Water Street Inn used to be…. El Toro closed and former Mount Angel Pizza owners, David and Dina Collins are opening Villa Gusto Pizza and Pasta in it’s place… The patios at Hinsdale’s Wine Bar & Bistro, Mac’s Place and Creekside Grille will be open for the gentle, rhythmic sounds of the creek below… The Gallon House’s new patio is nearing completion (at First and Oak, not on the bridge)… Mike and Dayna Rich will bring their years of experience running the Silver Falls Conference Center to their new restaurant at the Silverton Inn and Suites called simply 310 Water St… Get out there and see what’s going on.
