Monitor Inn has something for all

Since Tony Doody bought Monitor Inn  more than three years ago, it has been spruced up, had new equipment installed and has been painted red, white and blue inside.

“I have fun,” he admitted. “This is something I’ve always wanted to do and there’s a nice vibe here.”

The restaurant in “downtown” Monitor offers burgers, sandwiches and dinner entrees, and serves wine, beer and liquor.

Doody says the burgers are made with high-quality beef and buns.

“I think our burgers are the best of anybody’s around,” he said. A regular burger is $6, but that’s just the start. Kenny’s Sourdough Blues Burger is made with beef, bacon, Swiss cheese, bleu cheese sauce, lettuce and tomato on a sourdough bun.

The really daring go for the Cucamonga Burger with its teriyaki-glazed beef patty plus ham, pineapple, cheese, lettuce and tomato.

If you’re in the mood for a sandwich, Doody recommends the Swiss turkey grill made with fresh turkey breast.

Dinners include a selection of six items ranging from Malibu chicken at $9 (teriyaki chicken breasts on rice accompanied by fried zucchini and a side salad) to a fisherman’s basket of cod and shrimp, fries or tater tots for $8.50; to everyone’s favorite, six hot wings with your favorite dipping sauce, $6.75. Take-out food is available.

Get into the spirit of camaraderie with karaoke on Saturday evenings beginning at 9 p.m. and ending at 1 a.m.

Games include pool, foosball and video poker. Wi-Fi is available for computer users.

The Monitor Inn is at the intersection of Meridian and Monitor-McKee roads. It is open Tuesday through Thursday noon until midnight, Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. , Sunday and Monday until 11 p.m. Order your take out in advance at 503-634-2877.
