Escape plan: Ladies Night Out provides women with evening of fun

By Dixon BledsoeNicole Kay examines prizes with Jose DeLarosa of Allison and Israel Jewelers.

If you can’t find the woman in your life on April 9, there’s a good chance she is on an “Escape to the Riviera,” the fourth annual Ladies Night Out event sponsored by the Silverton Area Chamber of Commerce.

“With the recession and its effects, women are telling me that they are looking forward to a night of fun this year more than ever,” said Ladies Night Out chairwoman Nicole Kay.

“If they can’t take a spring vacation this year, we’ll make sure they have a fabulous escape, if just for the night.”

“Escape to the Riviera” is 7 to 10 p.m. April 9 at The Oregon Garden for guests 21 years old and older. Tickets are $35 per person and include a complimentary cocktail and food. Guests are encouraged to dress-up in spring escape attire.

Designed to feature local businesses that cater to women, Ladies Night Out is evening of fun, conversation, shopping and appetizers. Women can choose to enter the Diamond contest with tickets costing $10 each for a chance to win a diamond tennis bracelet or .48 carat diamond pendant.
There will be two winning tickets drawn for the diamond jewelry from Allison and Israel Jewelers of Silverton.

Guests also will find prizes in some of the 30 booths that cover the gamut of products and services from clothes and beauty to flowers and financial management.

The event is popular with businesses, too. Vendors were turned away as the event space was filled by January.

With admission, guests are entered into a drawing for a romantic weekend at Domaine Margelle, a country getaway above Crooked Finger. The grand prize winner’s retreat will include a dinner prepared by Chef Jeff Nizlek.

“Last year was fun and this year people are going to love it even more,” said Silverton Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Stacy Palmer.

“We have a ton of prizes, many worth in excess of $200, where last year there were only two big prizes.”

One change that is being made after receiving feedback from guests, Palmer said, is there will be more servers “so the food will be out much more quickly.”

And, Palmer said, it will be great food.

“We’ll have appetizers featuring shrimp cocktails, mini-Chicken Cordon Bleu, salmon, and Brie with Raspberry,” she said.

The Oregon Garden Resort is offering room packages for Ladies Night Out ticket holders.

The special package includes a room for two, free entry to The Oregon Garden, breakfast for two and two 50-minute spa treatments for just $219.

All proceeds benefit the Silverton Area Chamber of Commerce. This is the nonprofit organization’s largest fundraiser. Tickets can be purchased by calling 503-873-5615 or e-mailing [email protected].
