In Memoriam: Daryl Dean Johnson (Jan. 2, 1929 – May 6, 2023)

Daryl Dean Johnson of Salem, Oregon died May 6, 2023 at Salem Hospital of heart failure.

Daryl was born Jan. 2, 1929 to Oscar and Pauline Johnson of Silverton, Oregon.

He was raised inEvans Valley and graduated from Silverton High School. Don married his high school sweetheart, Janell Johnson. They were married for 74 years.

He is survived by his wife, Janell, of Salem; children, Darlene Bass and Donald Johnson, both of Salem; grandchildren, Anna Gutierrez (Jose) Michelle Haines (Jason) and Daniel Bass; seven great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Pauline Johnson, and his brother, Eldon Ardell Johnson.

Memorial services were held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Silverton on May 25, preceded by a private graveside service. Daryl was an active member of Immanuel all his life. Donations can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church sound system.

Arrangements are by Unger Funeral Chapel.
