Man About Town: Nooooo, honey – Your hair looks good that way …

You cuss, I cuss, we all cuss for asparagus… Hey, I know that was lame but you try to come up with some witty repartee using “Spargelzeit.” Anyway, come celebrate asparagus season in Germany with Mary Grant and the crew at the Glockenspiel restaurant in Mount Angel. The menu will include items like an asparagus omelets with Swiss cheese, weiner schnitzel topped with asparagus and a split baguette with asparagus, ham, cheese and béchamel sauce…..hmmmm, usually “béchamel” is the sound The Man makes when he eats too much asparagus….

The kind folks at Dr. Michael Kim’s dental office want your help with donations to help the Standley family who lost everything in a recent house fire. Household items, clothing or money will all help this family of seven. For information or clothing sizes, call 503-873-3530. Dr. Kim and his crew  spent the day April 10 with volunteers collecting food for Silverton Area Community Aid.

Bodacious Baker Molly Ainsley is closing her Rolling Hills Coffee Shop and moving the SortaSausage part of her business across the street to the former Bangs and Burns location. B.T.W. (that means “by the way” to you unhipsters) The Man has sampled the kinda, sorta, is it or isn’t it sausage and speaking as a hardcore Neanderthal meat eater, I couldn’t tell the difference between it and the kind that squeals. Ask for it at Roth’s and give it a try.

If you’re in the market for a new farmer then you’re in luck. The Mount Angel Community Foundation is holding a Farmers’ Auction on Saturday, April 24 in the Oktoberfest Building. Chairman Randy Wavra says to come early as the best looking farmers always go first and oh yeah, there will also be a large amount of used farm equipment and services to bid on. After you pick out your farmer, you can buy him a sausage lunch and a beer for a nominal fee. All the proceeds will go to the fund for the new Community Building in Mount Angel.

Hey fellas, here’s a tip you might find helpful. This time of year those annoying sugar ants decide that whatever is inside the Man-sion must be better than what they have outside. Of course, sharing a house with two girls means one bathroom is full of attractive smells and lotions for the little buggers to explore. If your house is anything like mine, you know who is in charge of anything creepy or crawly so I grabbed my trusty can of RAID, did my best Rambo imitation and eliminated the threat to our peace and sanity. Now, (here’s the tip) what you don’t want to ever, ever, EVER do is leave a spray can of RAID on the bathroom counter… especially if it resembles a can of hair spray…
