The 10th annual Silverton Poetry Festival takes place April 10 – 18 with events for all ages and levels of poetry interest.

The Favorite Poem Project begins the week’s festivities with an open microphone where one may read the works of one’s favorite poet.

The week continues with two evenings of featured published poets including the Literary Arts 2009 Oregon Book Award winner Matthew Dickman.

A poetry writing workshop with Jessica Lamb is an integral part of the festival, and the popular Talking Poets evening allows the public to hear and talk with professional poets about their work and techniques.

Musicians Christopher M. Wicks and Michael Smith will play at an event. The Feast of Poets ends the festival with food, drink and poetry.

The Silverton Poetry Association hosts the festival with the mission to offer opportunities for full community participation and to provide inspiration through the verse of a wide variety of poets.

The Silverton community and businesses sponsor these events each year by providing performance venues, refreshments, promotional artwork, publicity and cash donations.
