SFSD hires new principal

The Silver Falls School District has hired an administrator from the Salem-Keizer School District to become the new principal for Robert Frost School. Sarah Grimmer, current co-principal at Scott Elementary School, in Salem, was hired by the Silver Falls School Board April 11, filling a vacancy left after Principal Mandy Pack accepted a job with a different district.

Grimmer was chosen after a vetting process that included multiple interviews with district leadership and town hall sessions with community and staff.

“It became clearer and clearer through each stage of our process that Sarah Grimmer has both the deep experience as an elementary instructional leader, as well as the operational skills to lead the Robert Frost K-5 community,” said Superintendent Scott Drue.

Grimmer has held her current position since 2021, after serving as principal of Morningside Elementary School, in Salem, since 2017. Grimmer spent 14 years as a teacher and instructional mentor, with a background in elementary-level education and teaching English as a second language.

She will start at Robert Frost July 1 after interim-Principal Holly Shotts, formerly a 4th/5th grade instructor, concludes her temporary role in the position.
